Best pitcher in baseball today? There is quite a lot of evidence to support that sentiment when it comes to Texas native, Clayton Kershaw. Clayton has played in the Majors since 2008 and his career earned run average is the lowest among starters in the live-ball era with a minimum of 1,000 innings pitched. Drafted seventh overall in the 2006 MLB Draft, Kershaw worked his way through the Dodgers’ farm system in just one full season and reached the majors at 20 years old. In 2011, he won the pitching Triple Crown and the National League Cy Young Award, becoming the youngest pitcher to accomplish either of these feats since Dwight Gooden in 1985. Awards & Honors Clayton has already earned include multiple All-Star Games, NL MVP, NL Cy Young Awards, NL ERA Leader, NL Strikeout Leader, Gold Glove….you get the idea…Clayton is GOOD! And on June 18, ‘The Claw’ (as he is affectionately called), pitched a complete game no-hitter against the Colorado Rockies, striking out a career-high 15 batters in the process. He is the only pitcher in MLB history with 15 strikeouts in a game while allowing no hits and no walks. This great 11×14 Photograph of Clayton in action on the mound is part of our unsigned SGA Signature Series, a very cool display that includes an SGA Exclusive engraved facsimile Clayton Kershaw signature Inset Plate, along with his great quote: ‘I’ll never take for granted the opportunity to put on a Dodgers uniform.’ A wonderful piece of Sports Art that makes a great gift for that special Dodgers fan in your life!
